Who we are

Color Monkey is an Interactive Design Studio with an exciting mix of talented designers in a creative environment in which ideas and products come to life.

With well over a decade of combined experience in the mobile industry we have unique knowledge in creating innovative concepts as well as driving these through production to real products. We strive to have a wonderful variation of products and services that are all tied together by great design and fantastic user experiences. Color Monkey was founded in 2008 by long time friends and colleagues Per Ögren and Mikael Peterson, the company is privately owned and profitable.

Per Ögren

CEO | Co-founder

has been working with mobiles since the stone age basically, back in the day when the screens were 101×28 pixels and had 4 gray scales if you were lucky. Has among other things been the lead UI designer of the T68i – the first GSM product with color screen and the first of its kind to hold an iconographic grid main menu. Was also the lead UI designer of the T610 – award winning product for design and usability with a revolutionary interface design for a new breed of big color screens. Is the father of the, also award winning, Sony Ericsson x10 mini.

The last couple of years were spent as:
Head of User Experience Management at Sony Ericsson
Vice President of User Experiences at The Astonishing Tribe
Senior User Interface Designer, Creative Design Center at Sony Ericsson

Per enjoys photography, cooking though never using recipes, watches, sneakers and keeping things tidy.

Mikael Peterson

Creative Director | Co-founder

was just about to become Art Director at Sony Ericsson’s Creative Design Center when he instead decided to pursue his other dream of owning his own design studio. He had been working at Sony Ericsson for 4½ years and been the lead designer for several products; among others the first Bravia phone and the Z520 with it’s unique illumination functionality.

The most fun project at Sony Ericsson was the lead concept artist and art director for the S500i – The Everchanging phone; the phone adapts to the time of day, the seasons and also holidays to give you a dynamic and exciting experience. He also spent time in Tokyo, working closely with Sony Digital Design.

He has a keen interest and university education in Film science and Journalism.

Mikael enjoys music made before he was born, documentaries, breakfast & brunch, interior design and making a mess.

Pontus Jarenskog

Designer

has been in the game since anno 2004.
For almost six years he was employed by The Astonishing Tribe, and during that period he spent quite some time at Sony Ericsson’s Creative Design Center as a design consultant.
He has worked with every imaginable screen size, from the tiniest, monochrome displays to full blown HD 3D TV:s.
He designed the UI for the first bluetooth watch ever made and have been involved in the design of many groundbreaking UI prototypes at TAT’s innovation department.
Pontus is a genuine music connoisseur (some might even say rock-snob) and an enthusiastic guitar player.
He is also a passionate gamer, enjoying both board games, video games and about everything in between.

Pontus likes games, collecting guitars, animals, graphic novels, cooking stews, and discussing bands you haven’t even heard of.

Jonas Karner

Freelance Designer

has spent the last six years working as a freelance graphic designer. His main talent used to be drawing with pen on paper. After realizing that the age of the aquarius in fact meant the age of computers he decided to tame the beast, the beast being the computer with pen tablet.

He has a university degree in User Interface Design and sociology and is somewhat uncomfortable in the company of large insects.

Jonas likes good coffee, street art, root vegetables, shopping for unnecessary stuff, cats, cooking and discussing god.
